What is visa 462?
Work and Holiday Visa Benefits
WORKING
The subclass 462 visa allows applicants to come to Australia to travel and work for a salary, unlike the Australian tourist visa subclass 600, which only allows travel.
TRAVEL
The visa holder is free to travel in and out of Australia for the duration of the visa.
RESIDENCE RIGHTS
Reside in Australia for 12 months. After that, you can apply for an extension (if eligible) or have the opportunity to switch to other visa categories.
LEARNING RIGHTS
The visa holder is allowed to join courses under 4 months.
Work and Holiday Visa Requirements
EDUCATION
- have a tertiary qualification from a university, college or training centre, or
- have completed 2 years of undergraduate university study
AGE
You must be aged 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) when you apply.
VALID PASSPORT
Hold Vietnamese passport, or countries listed by the Australian Department of Immigration.
FINANCE
You must have enough money to:
- support yourself while you are in Australia and
- leave Australia at the end of your stay.
This is usually about AUD5,000 for your initial stay, plus the fare to where you are going after leaving Australia.

OUTSIDE OF AUSTRALIA
In order to apply for the First Year Working Holiday Visa, you must be outside of Australia at the time of application and at the time of grant.

Visa 462 quota 2023
For the 2022-2023 program year, the Australian Government implemented a one-off increase of 30 per cent to the visa caps. The caps have now returned to the pre-existing arrangements for the 2023-2024 program year.
